Commercials roofers utilizing a system to rehab commercial roofs that involves several challenges.
Challenge
Commercial roofers utilizing a system to rehab commercial roofs that includes asphaltic emulsion, stabilizing elements such as re-enforcing fabrics and/or fiberglass fibers, and topcoats faced several challenges associated with the use of asphaltic emulsions. The asphaltic emulsions available for such applications were slow to cure and routinely plugged up pumps used in the application of the material. Also, asphaltic emulsions were being supplied in hard shell plastic totes that needed to returned to the manufacturer and needed to be cleaned out incurring a charge for doing so.
Solution
ErgonArmor supplied Ertech 2030 asphaltic emulsion to successfully meet these challenges. Having selected mineral fillers, Ertech 2030 is a coating that provides the protection needed in that type of roofing system. The particle size of the emulsion as manufactured increased the rate of cure time of the asphaltic emulsion as compared to other asphaltic emulsions. The filtering process which Ertech 2030 goes through prior to packaging eliminated the problem of plugged up pumps. Ertech 2030 was supplied in disposable totes that eliminated the need to return empties and incur cleaning charges.
Time is money when it comes to commercial roof installations. Faster curing of the asphaltic emulsion, less down time associated with plugged pumps, and less hassle dealing with the return of empties all adds up to a successful solution to the challenges faced in this type of roofing job.

Industry: OEM Dry Van Bodies
Manufacturer of dry van bodies needed a protective coating for the underside of the van floor. ErgonArmor supplied Ertech 2010 asphaltic emulsion to successfully meet these challenges. The right amount of build was achieved that prevents water spray from coming through the seams of the wood decking fastened to the metal frame and without drips and runoff to prevent waste.
Challenge
Manufacturer of dry van bodies needed a protective coating for the underside of the van floor. The coating needed to provide good corrosion protection to the metal frame of the floor and prevent water spray from coming through the seams of the wood decking fastened to the metal frame. In spraying the underside of the van floor, several passes over certain points of the frame were unavoidable. The coating to be sprayed must allow for high build at these points without drips and runoff to prevent waste. Also, the manufacturer wanted to switch from using drums in their spray booth to a tote configuration eliminating lots of downtime switching out drums and the mess associated with doing so.
For packaging in totes, evacuation of the product from the tote requires a viscosity low enough to free flow from the tote valve through a hose to the spray pump. If the material is too low in viscosity, an applicator can only achieve minimal film build.
Solution
ErgonArmor supplied Ertech 2010 asphaltic emulsion to successfully meet these challenges. Having selected mineral fillers, Ertech 2010 is a coating that provides excellent corrosion protection with over 1,000 hours of salt spray resistance. The right amount of build was achieved that prevents water spray from coming through the seams of the wood decking fastened to the metal frame and without drips and runoff to prevent waste.
Ertech 2010 was supplied in tote packaging which saved time in the spray booth by eliminating frequent switching of drums. Simply disconnecting and reconnecting a 2" hose to totes proved a lot cleaner in the operation.
